My name is Nadia, slowly adding to my fabric stash but my sewing skills are very basic. Starting a sewing night course soon but it’s super lovely to meet other sewing people.

Well, no-one knew it all before they started, and we all seem to manage! I am sure you will be fine, and if you want help, no matter how trivial, ask, You will get loads of slightly different approaches to consider.
I can confuse almost anyone!

Hi Nadia Peachycat and welcome to the foum. Classes are a great idea and so is a fabric stash as long as it's kept in check! There's so much collective knowledge here that people are willing to share, you'll be fine - ask away  :)

Hi Nadia - welcome to TSP from me too. If you get a good tutor you'll love your sewing classes, so fingers crossed for you. What are you planning to make to start with?

I have a cup of tea in my hand as I type <3
Ultimate aim is to make a winter coat but would be over the moon with a wearable skirt. :)

Coats are not as hard as you think. Once you have a few garments under your belt, give it a go! (We're actually doing a casual coat-along in the Sewalong forum if you wanted to join even just as a voyeur).

The thing about coats is a) they don't have to fit very close so if they're a little off in sizing it's fine b) wool and other thick fabrics are very forgiving to fudging stitching c) the shapes can be quite simple and no zips to worry about plus as your confidence grows you can add fun things like pockets to your liking and epaulettes/cuff straps

What's the problem with posting @Poolygirl?

If you want to start a new thread you go to the section you want to post in (for welcome threads that is 'Hi, I'm new...' in the Reception area) and click on 'New Topic', which appears at either the top or the bottom of the list of topics.

Oh - and welcome!  :)

I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.
