For those who don't know, Lilya is our little miracle! She had a massive stroke at 2 months, and we were told that there was very little hope for her, but she has amazed us all. The stroke has left her with a turn in her left eye, and she wears glasses (and looks adorable in them), but no other disabilities.
She's 4 in May, and as bright as a button.
She started school last September (not nursery Nana), and is very proud to be a 'little Joey' (As St Josephs pre-schoolers are called!)
Manchester Children's Hospital, and now Alder Hey, have done an excellent job, and mum and dad strive every day to help her to be the best she can be. She will have specialist care for some time, but the appointments are getting fewer, and fewer. The eye may need an operation next year, but that has yet to be decided.
Lilya will have a baby brother in August, and I just hope that his start in life will be easier.
All the Children's charities deserve support, but the Ronald McDonald houses are invaluable, as they help parents stay close to their children when they are poorly.
