The Singer "L.A." cabinet - here's one!

Folks might remember I scanned in a 1960's Singer leaflet with some cabinet models on it - and we all remarked we hadn't seen one particular model - the L.A. cabinet?
Well I bought one  :)

I did think I would put my manual 99K into it - and have now found it won't it - so I have two 99s - one elctric and one manual - I may have to let the manual one go. But here a shot from the ebay sale, I'll take more photographs as I clean and reassemble - it's got a nasty musty smell at present

Wow - that's not usually my style, but that's beautiful!   :loveit:
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

It is lovvely - but now I've got ANOTHER machine - I really didn't mean not, but the 99 with a handle is too large to swing down into the cabinet   :S
But it is stylish - I'm giving up a card table/trolley thing to make room or it but I feel it's a fair exchange .

If you ever want to part with it I’ll give it a good home.

I promised the lady I bought it from - who was parting with it a bit reluctantly - that I would keep it and cherish it  :)
Funny that it's such a little-seen cabinet variant though, isn't it?

That’s fab! I’m sure the musty smell will come off soon, try wiping it all over inside and out with baby wipes... and keep it warm.

Hope you enjoy it!

What an unusual shape - but very much of its period.
Interestingly it looks as if the leaflet does say the 99k should fit.

@LeilaMay
That is so cool.  Did you come by it accidentally or did you go to a dealer?

The electric 99K fits it - but I was hoping to swap it out or my older manual 99K - but the extra length of the handle prevents that.

annieg - I found it on ebay!  :)

To me it's calling out for a Rocketeer.

Sadly it wouldn't fit in - only a 99 or a 185 according to the leaflet spec.
