:loveit: all your blocks @Sandra. You have a great eye for colour. (and your "non-quilting"!!!! is very neat and precise).  <3

think this is the first time I've tried to quilt a decorative shape/motif

and you succeeded brilliantly!!!!

Did you use your WF? of FMQ ???

You can do wonderful things with simple shapes and a WF!

A walking foot!? Lol  0_0
FMQ....Ha,ha,ha......

I don't have one. I've never tried using one and they're expensive to buy, aren't they? It'd be £99 for my old Bernina machine.  :o...(according to Jaycotts)
I can't justify spending that much money....how often would I use it? I'm not a quilter.  :P

After seeing how Iminei cut out a shape to stitch around...( Ah..that's how it's done)... I had a look through my patchwork books to find a shape suitable to fill the space...traced it off, and stitched around it.
It was actually a flower for applique, but it looked good, and filled the gap nicely.
I've got a few nice variegated threads stashed away...just in case.

Thanks, everyone for your comments.  :)  It's a lovely block, and ever so easy. Do try it. I'm sure you'll be surprised at how simple it is.

Sandra.

If this is the first time you've tried a decorative shape from a template @Sandra - you've done an amazing job. It looks lovely.  <3 I know what you mean about a walking foot for a Bernina being expensive - they're at least £100.  :S I was lucky - mine came with my machine and I love it, but if you're careful you can manage quite well without - you just need to go a bit slower, as I'm sure you know. My problem is keeping my lines of stitching straight (or curved, whichever) - they always seem to go their own way, no matter what I do. Never mind, I really want to try this block when I can.

It is an easy block yes. I didn't actually quilt it but did the stitching as if it was quilted.

I can get to my sewing machine again and so have started playing catch up again. I’ve not quilted this block but have done a bit of decorative stitching.

Finally... I'm more pleased with the block than the photograph.   -<  The thread I used for quilting is variegated - this one:

and it goes very well with the inside fabric, but the camera won't show the colour - I guess because it's rayon.  (And yes, it's machine embroidery thread, not quilting thread - I'll be hiding behind the sofa from the quilt police.)

Anyway, here is the block:

Yes, it was really nice to do - I thought the folding of the curves would be a pain, but it was just really pleasing - and very easy.

Wonder if there are any biscuits left...

@Acorn There's not many biscuits left because I snook into the HOF while @Iminei wasn't looking and ate a few.
