Crafter that sounds like a tough place to be, I don’t know which machines you’ve been buying, but pre 1965 machines tend to be strong runners, because they’re almost all metal, but they’re usually seized due to neglect and set oil and grease. But given some effort they can be coaxed back to working. (As long as they haven’t been dropped or got really damp and rusted)
I had 1 I couldn’t use that had been dropped and the presser foot bar was bent, and shell was cracked subtly tho so the internals had become misaligned.
But the all metal machines with a little love will probably out last us all.
