If it was very thin it might have been domett.

I think that, apart from width, the only difference between cotton wadding (aka batting in USA), bump and domett is the thickness. A while ago my daughter who makes curtains professionally saw one of my quilts in progress and she commented that the wadding is the same as the bump that she uses for interlining.
Except per your link bump and domett are wovens whereas batting is not. I've used a very heavy, coarsely woven grey flannel I found dirt cheap as a lightweight quilt fill and I loved it. Had to preshrink the heck out of it and I've never seen anything like it since but I think the lightweight Domett might work the same.

Locally the quilt shops do carry some 48" to 54" batting sold by the yard. I assumed because it is much easier to use if you are making throws and baby blankets, especially if you only want to make one. Frequently it's polyester and that price point
@Stitches mentioned sounds more like poly than cotton.
Really most any batting will work. Just need to decide what fiber you want it from, how thick and puffy- the loft, then if you're going to tie it or quilt it and if quilt, how far apart you want your quilting. The batting adverts and labels will tell you what each batting is best suited for. I go by that.
