I have made this pattern twice before in summery fabrics and liked the style, I prefer a centre back zip so I'll change that again, the pattern has Palmer Pletsch fit and after a couple of toiles I got it right :) I hope to cut out today if my back isn't too stiff.

Ooh that's nice, @Silver Rose , I don't remember seeing that pattern before.   Are you going to line it or is the tweed non-itchy?   How close is the fit (looks close from the picture)?  I'm always on the lookout for slim trouser patterns.

Or I could just swoop in and take over your entire wardrobe as I seem to love everything you make :)  xx

@Nevis5  fit is good for me in the tum, bum and crotch areas but I had to take in the legs a lot and adjust the back ,'cos I have a flattish derriere. I also am shortwaisted with long legs but I am only 5ft 6in so not really tall. The tweed is quite smooth but I might line the trousers to mid thigh. I cut out and tailor tacked this morning until my back protested.

Ha!  @Silver Rose  it sounds perfect for me :)  I am also short waisted with stupidly long legs (taller than you though, curse it, I can't steal your trousers  at 5'9") with a bum that's sliding down the back of my legs  :S

Hope your back is OK, I'm lucky in that my cutting table is nice and high to accommodate my stupidly long legs.  Good luck with the trouser making! x

Made some progress,  waist facing pieces sewn together and some lovely blue satin bias tape sewn on to finish the edges, centre front and back seams sewed and the darts, zip pinned in centre back and today I hope to put front pockets in, finish zip and then tack leg seams for a first check on the fit. I've got a couple of busy days ahead so hope to continue on Friday.

I don't think I've ever heard of a centre back zip in trousers  :S  Is that just me??

I have heard of it, think it was quite fashionable at one time.

I did wonder about the pros and cons of fly, side or front zips.

I've used V1415 several times - which has a back zip and I much prefer it.

I also like a back zip on trousers...less bulk at the front for a smoother look under close fitting tees.

Edited to add photos. Two different pairs, grey wool on left, black with stripe on right...both super wool 120.  Admittedly, with the waist and wider legs, maybe not a current fashion.

As you know I don't do trousers but I do have a Burda culottes pattern with a zip in the back and they are a b***** to fasten especially if you have a hook and eye (as the pattern recommends). Next time I make them they will have a fly front.
It's not easy being this perfekt

I like those @CCL . I definitely prefer waistbands that sit on the waist.

Made good progress on Monday, the pocket and side fronts are half done, I'll finish them off today I hope and then begin the fitting business, I seem to have slimmed down in the hip and thigh area but am larger in the waist :S but no change in my weight. More later.

@Silver Rose  - Ah! The "presents" we receive with an aging body!

Keep an eye on that back rise, thickening waist and slimming hips and thighs usually means the bum has dropped (the excess doesn't magically migrate to the waist). This is when the back crotch curve alteration and crotch extensions begin to need to develop.

Oh, such fun.

Just altering OHs jeans for this very reason.  One pair simple seam, the other felled. That will be fun.
