Bengaline help

Sorting through my stash and I have a piece of bengaline fabric. Not a fabric I have used before. As you know it has a stretch down the grainline but it is a heavyish fabric so is it likely to drop a lot if I make a dress. Or would you use it crossgrain so the stretch goes across rather than down.
It's not easy being this perfekt

I've never used it (or, for that matter, come across it) myself, but I know that Style Arc seems to recommend it for a lot of their patterns - trousers in particular, I think.
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

Definitely use it cross grain, I've made trousers and dresses that way and it is a nice fabric to wear.
A day without sewing is a day wasted.

I have a length maturing in the stash which is intended for trousers and I will definitely cut it on the cross grain.  All garments need the maximum stretch going around the body.
