Lucky me - a friend has passed on to me a length of Shetland wool fabric in a very nice warm mottled brown. It’s the same sort of weight as a tweed (so coat-y) but a normal weave as opposed to twill. It is missing a small jagged corner (a foot square in total at most) but apart from that is 3 and a half metres long and 60” wide.
So firstly I’m showing off lol because I’m sure one could pay handsomely for a fabric of this quality and size (two woven authenticity labels are included) and it is gorgeous.
Secondly - any inspiration or ideas for what I could make? I’m half tempted to run up a sweeping cloak like a minor Harry Potter character! But I was thinking about a coat or jacket - I haven’t really done tailoring before but I have made a tweed waistcoat for OH and a dress in lighter wool for myself so am sure I could learn. I could take my time and aim to have it done for next winter.
Does anything spring to mind?
