Has anyone made the envigado vest ?
Does it really take 2.10 metres of 135cm wide fabric? It seems a lot for a sleeveless vest.

Nice pattern, but I can't see how it would take all that fabric.

Jessie, who is very happy to be here!!  :),  but who has far too many sewing machines to be healthy, and a fabric stash which is becoming embarrassing.

Actually I've just bought this.  I was looking at the Pattern Review best patterns 2018, saw one and followed through, didn't like it (for me) but saw this one and bought it.  For a size 14 without the hood it was 2 meters, which was a lot of fabric for what it is.  One thing that drew me was the pockets it had.  I don't normally like drawstring but in this case I doubt it would ever get fastened.  Mind you I always lay patterns as if I have no spare fabric spare, just in case there is a  cock up later.
Stash extension 2024- 6.1 meters
Left at the end of 2023 - 66 meters now (includes fabric found hidden out of sight)  Lining fabric not included

I was thinking the same as Franchesca - hood, flap pockets, self facings etc - I think it would take that much.  If I was making it, unlikely as I don't much like sleeveless waistcoats/jerkins or whatever, I'd order 2m of fabric.  You can nearly always snug the pieces up a bit if push comes to shove!
Brenda.  My machines are: Corona, a 1953 Singer 201K-3, Caroline, a 1940 Singer 201K-3, Thirza, 1949 Singer 221K, Azilia, 1957 Singer 201K-MK2 and Vera, a Husqvarna 350 SewEasy about 20 years old. Also Bernina 1150 overlocker and Elna 444 Coverstitcher.

Do you have one of those folding cardboard cutting out boards?   I use mine to work out how much fabric is needed if I have a pattern in mind.  That way you might even get it out of less than the 2 metres.

@Ohsewsimple  what a good idea. I've got one of those but never thought of using it for that. Thanks

@sewingj you’re welcome.  Because I make my own patterns I have to work out how much fabric is needed and this is easier than measuring on the table.

For anyone interested no it doesn't take 2.10 metres. You can get it out of 1 1/2 easy.
