?????

And do you think the plain grey strips attaching the 4 blocks should be 2" finished, the same width of the plain grey pieces in the block (instead of the 1" shown)

I like it as it is too.  The narrower sashing defines the blocks.

Finished ....

Sorry Girls but I did replace the sashing with 2" finished, having picked up an extra 1/4m of the plain grey, and Im happy with it now (tho' there is one mistake, which I could unpick if anyone notices it!)

Anyhoo I like it now, for what it is, so will be putting together a tutorial in the next couple of weeks on how to make the block with extra destructions for those who want to add the border (I hate borders but these went together quite well.

Yes, I think it would inspire me to want to learn to make it. It's not too fussy and has a nice modern feel, and I also like the grey instead of the usual white, which can get a bit boring. I'd make it.  :fabric:

I'm sure it would inspire me too.  A lovely design that doesn't come across as too difficult to do.

Yes, I like the second version better - the darker cornerstone square right in the middle really lifts it.

Thanks Brenda, an OK from the Goddess of Colour means something to me.

I fixed the fault ... I couldn't live with it. Im taking it to the girl who owns the school this afternoon, really hoping she will like it too! Gulp!  :\

Took me ages to find the 'fault' (idiosyncracy, maybe?) but I got it in the end.  I would have felt the same as you, but really, not a fault!

It's lovely - and I don't even like grey!  The second version is definitely superior.
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

I like the second version better too.  The blocks are clearer; I was struggling to see them in the first one.
