I'm so sorry to hear this news and that he had been fighting it for so long. We are always devastated to lose one of our own. I think Toileandtrouble's suggestion that his daughters keep a machine each is an excellent one and I hope they will do that. We shall remember him.

Very sad to read this this morning. Barny will be fondly remembered.

Condolences to all the family.

Jessie, who is very happy to be here!!  :),  but who has far too many sewing machines to be healthy, and a fabric stash which is becoming embarrassing.

So sorry for your sad loss.
I do hope his daughters consider keeping a machine each as they or their own children might want to take up sewing later on and to have a cherished machine with family history is a magical thing indeed.  <3

Absolutely!  I have both machines from my grandmother-in-law and my grandmother (this has only recently come into my possession, having been told it had been thrown out!) from when they were both in their teens/early 20s.  The joy those machines bring me with their heritage is immeasurable, and I haven't even sewn with either of them yet!

Jim, I am so sorry for your loss.  Barny will be missed.  My thoughts are with you and Barny's family.

So sad to hear this.  To keep a machine for the daughters is a lovely idea, with the attached history.  The big C is a foul creature.
I have learnt by my mistakes: Sewing machines now are Bernina 720, Bernina 1008, Bernina 801 from 1981, Brother overlocker, ancient but works well

I'm so sorry to hear about Barny, I always enjoyed his posts. I pass on my very best to you all.

I have my Grandmother's machine a cute little Elna that travelled the world with her and finished a lot pieces in her home and I cherish it, it reminds me so much of her and my Grandfather.
