I have to wait for the trouser interfacing I ordered, so although I have cut out the pieces, there will be no sewing until the weekend.
Yarn down:  1000g
Fabric down:  29m

Might make DBF some shorts for his birthday in April. They'll be fairly simple in style so I might go a bit mad with the fabric!

There's a possibility I might be able to join in on this one....

Friend, actually my ex-boyfriend  :) , has asked me to make a copy of a favourite shirt of his. It's a big baggy thing with a longish tail.
I've cut the old one up to use as a pattern, and I'm waiting for him to bring some fabric.

As we're not sure how it's going to turn out, I've asked that he brings some cheap stuff for starters, just in case it doesn't turn out very well.

He emailed yesterday to say he's got some, "Absolutely mental material from work, picked up from an Asian wedding venue."  :S

Sounds interesting, doesn't it?  0_0  Can't wait to see it.

Don't know when he'll manage to get here, in the timescale of the contest, but if I can, I'll join in.

Good grief!

The fabric's here. Wait 'til you see it.  0_0

It was the best sized piece in the bag to make up a shirt, but it not going to be to everyone's/anyone's taste.

0_0  0_0 It's probably not quite what you're thinking it will be.

More 'Bet Lynch' than Indian type print.

He brought another couple of small pieces of fabric which were really lovely and hoped they might be used together. A plain piece of deep gold colour silk, and a multi coloured piece of patterned fabric with the same gold tones. I'm thinking about how I might get to use them.

Feast your eyes on this. Metallic gold snakeskin print!

I've been cutting out this morning, and have pinned it roughly together to see how/if it will work.
OMG...It's quite...eye catching...to say the least. I've sent him an email and am awaiting his response.

Mmm - this is the 'absolutely mental' fabric for a wearable toile, right?  Will he wear it?

Good question. That's why I've only pinned it and have sent him an image.  ><

His intention is to wear it on stage. That sounds much more of a 'thing' than it is...he plays guitar and sometimes performs, as a hobby.

He's replied to my email, saying it's excellent and will 'go down a storm', at the gig he's got lined up.  0_0

Thought I might make progress on son's trousers.  Snit a few hags:
1. Fabric was bought for straight waistband, not enough to cut the facings on diagonal, so they have to be a different fabric.  So glad I didn't throw out the piece of dark brown cotton left from - whatever.
2. Despite having a monster box of zips they are all invisible/open end/delicate, so I will have to buy a sturdy brown standard zipper, not that I can find the size on the pattern, but it is fairly obvious
3. Belt carriers are sewn right sides together, trimmed to 1/4" wide and turned inside out (this is a rough surface wool) not going to happen, so had to revert to the old double fold and stitch down both sides.
4. Brain starting to hurt.

I may enter this and make another shirt for my husband. Or I may enter the posh frocks one instead and make something for me  :D
