I'm looking for fitted shift dress pattern,preferably with darts in the back as well as the front, any ideas?

I think you mean a sheath dress rather than a shift dress.  I remember shift dresses from the '60s, they had a side bust dart and that was all.  Straight down with no waist shaping other than an optional belt.  Sheath dresses are more fitted with waist darts as well as the bust darts.

In the 60s I had a Simplicity pattern which was something in between. Pretty straight with vertical darts as well as side bust darts, but not that tight. Were they just at the back? I've  been trying to remember it recently but haven't seen anything quite like it. The facings for neck and armhole were all in one.  I could rattle one off in the afternoon and wear it at night.  The in fabric then was 'Bushbaby' - do you remember that?

@toileandtrouble I loved sewing with bushbaby fabric, so easy to work with and warm and cosy to wear, a bit like a brushed cotton.
