Wearable toile in progress... it’s quilting cotton so it’s a bit on the thick side. The ‘posh frock’ will be cotton lawn and lined so hopefully softer.

Well I might be in with a chance at getting this done after all. I got some royal blue silk dupion on eBay and I've cut out Burda 6320 from it. It looks fairly straightforward, although I haven't used Burda in this form before - only the traced off ones from the magazines - all of 30 years ago. My experience is that it can be quite chilly in the evenings on cruise ships because of the air conditioning. I have some biggish bits left over so I am going to try and cut out a short (waist length) jacket to go over it. All I need is the time to get on with it!

The wearable toile is done... except for the buttonholes....I don’t like it! I think I still like the pattern but the fabric is too stiff and looks mumsy. I usually wear Tilton style stuff and smock style dresses so it may be the fitted look I’m not comfortable with. I think the posh version will be sleeveless.

I'm going to enter an outfit I am making for a smart dinner at the end of the month. I am making a Pauline Alice Telio jacket in this gold and indigo denim from Fabric Godmother. https://www.fabricgodmother.co.uk/2m-jacquard-lurex-stretch-denim-indigo-gold/
I bought navy plisse from Abakhan and am making a skirt and top from it. The skirt is simply two lengths seamed together with a gold elastic waistband.

I will cut it to my preferred length when I have made the top and see how it looks.

#SEWMUCHMORE entry no.1
Dress is for a family wedding later in the year.
Dress made from silk and a piece of decorated poly from stash, originally bought from Bombay stores in Bradford.
Pattern used is McCalls 6280 which I have made quite a few times. The only alteration I made was to raise the neckline. I did have to remove some of the sequins from the seam line but luckily not many

It was my intention to enter with https://voguepatterns.mccall.com/v9346 in a mulberry crepe.

Unfortunately I’ve had problems getting matching threads. I’ve had an email to say that the two reels I ordered won’t now be delivered until the 1st! I have a lot of thread, but none is anywhere near the colour and not available locally.

I’m still going to try and finish by the closing date, keeping fingers crossed the thread arrives before the weekend. It’s all fitted and cut out and the darts marked and ready to top stitch. Very frustrating.

This is my entry. The pattern is BD6320. I have made it full length and put the split in the back. The bust shaping on this pattern is quite clever. I couldn't see how it would work but it does. The darts are in the centre, not the sides. I am a D cup and it fits really well. I bought the fabric on Ebay a bargain I think at just over £30.

All the darts and seams are lined up exactly - except one! I unpicked it and redid it 4 times but it is still about 2mm out and I can't understand why - I pinned through the stitching on both pieces as usual. I didn't think the fabric would stand being unpicked again so I have left it. For this reason, I have made a belt just in case someone stands behind me and notices! It doesn't yet have belt carriers so I haven't pictured it on the dress. The buckle is a vintage one - from Ebay again!

Because we are going on a cruise and the air conditioning can be chilly, I made a waist length jacket from the leftovers. It is V8963 modified.
Sorry about the sideways pictures, I couldn't get it all in otherwise.

I’ve come to a standstill... the toile is done and in the bin, the fit is OK but I hate the fabric. I just can’t seem to get started on the real thing...

@Greybird I love the colour and fabric, it looks expensive.

For my entry, the thread has arrived, so will start today. Hopefully I’ll get it finished by the deadline. Better get off here and sew!
