It does look very smart. Maybe if enough people like it on here you can start a sew along (but it's not for me).

I think I have that pattern.  I collect Claire Shaeffer patterns... her instructions are usually detailed.  And I love the shape as well.

Very very nice - but you would need to have a waist - and I don`t

Very smart. I do admire outfits like that, but whether I would actually put the work in to make it is another matter.

Or the work into regularly dressing like that.

Not really my thing although I do like the detailing at the detailing at the bottom of the princess seam, and if you are buying you need to be quick in order to benefit from the 50% reduction. here
It's not easy being this perfekt

This is a beautiful jacket and with Claire Shaeffer’s patterns the instructions are really thorough. She has also written a book on tailoring a jacket, which is very comprehensive.

The key to this jacket is interfacing and there are several sellers I’ve found to be really good and helpful. Alison Smith, Gill Arnold, Michelle Pye  and  Tailormouse. Gill Arnold sells a jacket making pack.

I think you could dress this jacket up with a dress or skirt, or dress down with trousers or even jeans.

Go for it. I love it.

Yes, it's a lovely classic jacket that would look smart with almost anything without being OTT. :loveit:

Yes go for it and post post lots of progress piccies.

I've wanted a navy type jacket for ages, not that I like dark colours, said I would never wear navy again after wearing it for donkeys years at work.  Main reason, I was going to a lot of funerals and DH hates black.

Something like your Vogue pattern would have been perfect, but no way was I going to waste time on something that I hated sewing.  So last week, with  two funerals this week, I confess I went RTW, a bargain at Debenhams for £50, reduced from £169, in deep purple. <3 <3 <3

So get that pattern, it will take time to make but you will love it and doing it, especially if it is in a colour that you love and it will increase your sewing skills.

I think that's a lovely jacket - really nice detailing - and if I was the right shape I would certainly be keen to wear it.

As it's on offer at the moment, think about whether you would regret not getting it once the price has gone back up.  I bet you would!

I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

Very nice pattern and definitely worth having at east one fairly fitted 'smart' jacket like this in one's wardrobe.
