Just to add to the confusion, I'd go for the black and grey spots. I think the juxtaposition of the shapes front and back would work well and it would allow the quilting to shine.

What SiT said.  :)

Wedding Quilt

A beast to lay out but here it is

You cant see but Ive added a 2 1/2" border in the pale greys to each outer edge and it looks like I will do top and bottom too. Im also thinking of making the horizontal joining 1/2" finished strip in the colours, whilst the vertical will be in the greys.

Not my colours but Im thinking its looking effective (with the colour thaaang and randomnessness) and desperately hoping they'll like it!

Ive cut the binding extra wide (4", 2" doubled) as I think as this is a BIG quilt it needs a decent width binding.

This look great, can’t wait to see it finished are you on a time deadline? How are you going to quilt it or are you still planning. Sorry to ask so many questions but I really want to learn more about quilting especially quilting without free motion.

Come and see @Celia  ... Deadline is 2nd August.

Im layering next Tuesday, so time should be fine ...

Thinking about the label on the back now and wondering if I can get another pic printed ...
what do you think ...

A pic of Luke and Lucy as they were when they first met?
or as a family with the Wren??
or as a couple as they are now???

Well Girls the layering didnt go as planned as when I stretched the fabrics out, the quarters now running at 42 3/4" square were just too close to the wof for me to chance ...

I do have a backup plan however in the form of some gorgeous Retro Trapeze artists I think they are (tho I think they look like swimmers) which I will use as side borders.

That in turn will give me the necessary horizontal and vertical joining strips in the middle

Ooh I love that fabric.  I did think they were swimmers too at first and then saw their headdresses.

Swimmers could have headdresses too!!! Think Esther Williams

Okay so back to the Wedding Quilt ...

I've almost finished quilting the first quarter .... and I need your advice ...
I have quilted through the Grey background fabric halves of the HSTs with a perfectly matched Grey Thread
but not yet touched the coloured fabric halves ...

The HST's are 5" finished and in shades of green and blue
So far the quilting is in Grey with the bobbin thread being a variegated pastel thread.

Linky

linky

Should I quilt them at all?

Should I echo quilt once?

Or any other ideas?

Which thread?

A variegated blue or green, A plain blue or green matching closest to Fabric or ????

I'll leave you to ponder and respond while I finish quilting the facets of the Heart in the middle of the quarter ..

Hopefully by the time I get back to this there will be lots of input!

I think I would leave it as it is - I love the differentiation on the back with the empty HSTs.

Otherwise what about a simple motif in each of the HSTs?
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.
