I think I would leave it as is or just do a 1/4" from the seam line inside each triangle (is that what you meant by echo quilt it?

That link isn't working but one of the previous links is, so not quite invisibuble.

For the coloured HSTs how about shadow quilting??  Just one triangle about 1/4 inch inside the seams for each piece.

What's the maximum quilting distance recommended for the batting you use?

The quilting distance for that batting is 8”, so time to check your hypotenuses :-)

If my maths is correct you should be OK to leave the quilting as it is as the longest edge will be just over 7”.

I love the back of the heart as well!

I'm not a PQ expert at all, but personally as the coloured fabrics are patterned in some way, I like the fabric to not be distracted by quilting, plus I also like the wrinkled look the unquilted fabric gets when its washed; it adds its own texture.  As for rules about batting and maximum distances I've no idea, and/but I am a rule breaker generally  :P :P

I only quilt minimally and it's always been ok.
@Iminei you haven't said how your 2 day workshop went.... who was there, what happened etc. Can you post about it, or have I missed it??

To my mind 8" means 8" around any given point and you're well under that but would you be happy with the wrinkly aesthetics?
I think it gives it a bit of character. I know my wrinkles certainly would if I had any.
