Barely one week after I finished SWAP, and I am planning :)

Not sure what will come first, actually first order of business is cleaning the house as we are hosting some graduation events next month. I might be able to squeak out a fast top or two that could serve for the SWAKOP, and would enable me to toss some of my old, tired shirts.

Maybe today or tomorrow I'll start pulling and organizing fabric with patterns.

hello! I found my way over here via Ruthie, and might try sewing along with SWAKOP.   I tried my best for SWAP, but didn't finish quite enough pieces by the deadline.  I was also wondering if a handknit cardigan would be considered and appropriate bridge garment? Or is it strictly sewing?

Welcome to The Sewing Place @indigotiger, I’m happy to see that you found us  :)
A handknit cardigan would be perfectly appropriate as a bridge garment.

In the wardrobe section you can have your own diary thread, but you can also post your updates here.

Hi @indigotiger lovely to see you here.
There are quite a few fun contests over here, though I don't always manage an entry.
Enjoy!

Already giving some thought to this interesting way to structure wardrobe sewing. Since I don't buy RTW clothing, I'm going to avail myself of the two previously sewn garments and probably choose two different colors of my pinafore dresses, which are part of my most-of-the-year wardrobe. What I need most in my closet are blouses and everyday dresses, so will focus on those. One colorway will be chocolate brown + teal/turquoise, which has become a new favorite combination. I have a chocolate brown lightweight corduroy pinafore that I made earlier this year, and an assortment of printed fabrics both woven and knits.

Not sure what I will pick for the other colorway (maybe indigo to black). I am considering maybe a handknit cardigan, colorworked on a black background, or some other sort of casual cardigan in several coordinating colors. Two years ago I made an Alabama Chanin style cardigan in brown jersey/blue jersey/black stenciling/grey stitching, and I have really enjoyed how it coordinates with most of my wardrobe colors.

I don't think I want another cardigan in that style, but something I can wear with the teal/turquoise colors would be ideal.

Welcome @indigotiger!  It's great to see you here.  It seems this SWAKOP will suit you well, as you won't have to worry about the confusion that sometimes arises with 'tops' and 'bottoms' and how it fits with your lovely pinafore style.

Thanks for asking the handknit question - you beat me to it.  It's great to know we have that option @Manuela - thank you.

Hi @indigotiger!  Nice to see you over here. Looking forward as always to see what you put together. :)

I managed to gather up fabrics for SWAKOP. I do indeed have a lot of pink available. :)  Also a lot of blue. We'll see what I can put together.  I am still in the thinking/planning phase, not ready to sew just yet. Pants are on my mind, as I need at least 2 more pair for work and play.  Will probably stick with something I am familiar with for a quick sew here at the beginning. If I want to make that jacket I'll have to get on it, but that will have to wait until after June.

Sorry to hear that Francesca - good luck with the fix job, thank goodness for that spare fabric.

1st wearable outfit of SWAKOP.
Purchased jacket (which was rather an orphan), print skirt and top in a 'dress' look with a purchased belt.

What a great start @SewRuthieSews - lovely combo.  It looks both comfortable and elegant.  Love that they can be a 'dress' if matched together, yet still provide separate options.  You're halfway there on your first group!

Thanks @rentita, I've also made some plain trousers, another print top and a plain cardigan and have a skirt on the go.
I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Ah, Ruthie, your trousers (again) are great. Look perfect. I do hope they will wear well, with all the work that goes into a pair.

Ruthie I really like that top/trousers combo!

Still no sewing here. perhaps today, but it will all be mending/altering previously made items.
