Florals Rule contest - 1.05.-31.05.2019
« on: April 17, 2019, 09:04:38 AM »
Welcome to the Florals Rule contest. It was a huge success last year, who doesn’t like a bit of florals for summer. I can see this as an annual thingy.

So, here are the rules

1. You shall make a minimum of one garment - it can be anything, top, dress, skirt, jumpsuit, trousers....
2. If you want to make more than one entry, feel free to do so, but submit them in separate posts
3. Please clearly indicate what pattern you used and what, if any, changes you made
4. You don't need to use a commercial pattern, self drafted is fine
5. Sewing starts on May 1st, you can prepare & fit the pattern and cut before that date
6. Sewing finishes on May 31st, please post pictures by June 7th
7. Please use the template below when you submit your entry post

(your name)'s Entry (indicate the number if you have more than one entry  ;))

What event/occasion is it for

Pattern used (commercial or self-drafted, anything goes)

A short description on how you made it/problems overcome/etc.

Pictures (ideally included in the text, but I can do that for you if needed)

Oh no!  I've just finished a floral.  :(

I'll have to make another!  :)

Jessie, who is very happy to be here!!  :),  but who has far too many sewing machines to be healthy, and a fabric stash which is becoming embarrassing.

I am veh veh excited! Yesterday I formulated a plan of sorts for some 'odd' fabric that I bought because it was cheap...like you do. I might be able to enter this comp if I get a wriggle on.
@Pearl grab your kantha (buy a flowery one) and come on!!!! We're making a thing!

Thought this might be a possibility, @wrenkins , until I saw rule 6.  31st May?  As in, six weeks?   :S

I've hit a snag too @Pearl with my odd fabric. The stuff itself is 100% cotton but the twirly 'embroidery' bit is synthetic. It welded into a lump when I flame tested it. This means that the dying part of the plan will need some more thought.  8)
I've ordered a pattern that I've fancied for ages so I'll see what it looks like when it gets here before I commit. It's only 7 or 8 pieces. That's one piece a week. How hard can it be?   0_0  0_0  0_0  :S

I have so much flowery fabric it's giving me virtual hay fever. Must have a go at this contest. Get thee behind me, work commitments!

I’ll look forward to following your progress, @wrenkins .  As for me, maybe next year.  (I’ve just signed up to a dressmaking evening class.  :S)

Yay @Pearl, I am very much forward to your and @wrenkins’ adventures with dressmaking. I’ve been to the Darkside a few times, the first pieced block I even made was Hazel Hedgehog for a quilt and cushions for my little grand nephew

Ooh ooh can I bear to wait until May 1st to start on the Liberty print dress I posted about the Formal Wear board?

I have only drafted the corselette pattern so far, so quite possibly as long as drafting and toile-making is allowed ahead of time...

I have some normal florals somewhere in my stash, and I need to make a few things so commenting to place mark if I come up with something I want to do.

About the only thing I really am interested in at the moment is a jacket made with kanzashi flowers.  Not sure if this qualifies or not.

I also haven't been too interested in looking at my fabric, either.
