Started...don’t know whether to top stitch or not.
It’s the Sew Over It vintage shirt dress again. This time I’ve squared off the lapels, omitted the button through skirt and put in a side zip.

Here’s my entry for the Floral Rules contest
Pattern is Sew Over It vintage shirt dress.
Altered the lapel shape from round to angular, added pockets, omitted the button through skirt, added a side zip and four inches in length. The pocket and zip were interesting to sew.

@Efemera could you please use the template for your entry - you’ll find it in the first post of this thread.
Thank you

@Manuela can you add photos after you have made your post? I may get time to take one but would like to take more later (before closing date).

@Helen M theoretically yes, but that would also mean that I need to check previous posts for updates...
So best to submit your entries once you’ve taken the photos. You can post your progress updates here if you want to, and an official entry/submission just before the deadline.

@Manuela
Sorry I probably didn't explain properly. I guess I meant am I able to modify the post having posted maybe 2 photos to add another one?

@Helen M that’s what I mean. I work on the voting thread as the entries come in. Hence I would need to get back again and again to check whether there were modifications.
If I create the voting thread on the last day of submitting, I have to search pages and pages of posts to find the entries. Hence, best to take the pictures first and then submit an entry. If there is a time problem, just send me a pm and we work something out.

All week I've been looking at a piece of pinky, beigey pink floral fabric in the stash which would go nicely with my dark pink jeans and debating which blouse/top pattern to use, so this morning I cut out a dress from a length of glazed cotton bought for £2 from the craft club sales table.

It has big pink and yellow flowers with brown leaves so it is floral. :flower:  I'm using Simplicity 2247.

This evening I've got the princess panels constructed but the next step is the zip, so not sensible to start that late evening.

I've just done the zip, an invisible one which went in like a dream  0_0
I used the  :vintage: 201 with it's tiny zipper foot, pressed the zip first to coax the coils open and it just went in without any problem.  I might not bother again with the proper invisible zipper foot with the Husqvarna.

@BrendaP I keep on telling people, a zip or cording foot that goes close to the zipper coil is all one needs to install an invisible zipper.

I've got loads of projects in the queue for SWAKOP but none of them are very floral and there's not a lot of May left, so I might not manage to do this one.

My dress is now finished as per the pattern, but the neckline looks a bit plain.  Some years a go I made a sundress with a similar neckline and that had a knotted tie added to the front.  Based on that I've made up a similar knot.  Do I sew it on permanently or leave it plain?   Decisions.....

I like the knot. @BrendaP
You could tack it in place with a few hand stitches and remove later if you change your mind.

I prefer it plain. The neckline is a lovely shape and the bow detracts from it. You can always wear a necklace with it.
