Yes, it's floral; I can see flowers with stamens/pollen in the middle and as Wrenkins says, lots of leaves.

Thank you all!  Unless Manuela disagrees I will enter it - because I've just finished it!!!   0_0

SewRuthieSews's Entry
Planned for a family get together at my brother's later in June. As it is daytime and fairly relaxed and I thought the floral lace felt summery and fresh.

I've used the 3/4 sleeve top and cardigan from New Look 6735.
I've not included the belt for the cardigan, and I've underlined the front of the top with some white mesh just to add a bit more coverage there. To do this I basted the two layers together and then treated as one during assembly.

I may update this post with a photo of me actually wearing the items.

Sorry people - I had a brainwave overnight and realised that what my dress needs is a nice frill around the bottom (it's for a two year old, not me!) so I guess I'm out.  I'll post it on my diary when it's done.

Good luck everyone else!

I'd hoped to have my blouse done in time, but alas inspiration intervened and I'm not quite there...  I decided, as the fabric is black flowers on a blue background, that adding black flat piping to the collar and button bands would be a good idea and help add some subtle definition to the garment. I really like the effect, but my poor blouse is not quite completed. If nothing else, the contest gave me the impetus to stitch up the fabric, and it will soon be in my wardrobe.

I didn't get my dress finished in time. Great to see what others have done though!  :)

Holly Berry’s entry.

I’ve not made it for any specific event, although plan to wear it to our Sewing group afternoon tea.

The pattern is Butterick 6412. I changed the skirt from semi-circular to box pleats. The fabric was nice to sew, however the seams when pressed shortened the length by 3 cm, so I had to shorten the rest of the hem. I used bemberg lining, as recommended by a few on here, and that was beautiful to sew.

Beautiful dress @Holly Berry !  Love the neckline, and the skirt.  It has a very 40's feel to it.  I may have to have a little look at that pattern!  ;)

Jessie, who is very happy to be here!!  :),  but who has far too many sewing machines to be healthy, and a fabric stash which is becoming embarrassing.

Thank you for your comments. Rather than clog this thread up I’ve put a more detailed description of making the dress on my Members Diary thread.
