Hi Everyone!

Hi, I have just joined having learned so much since I found the forum (a few days ago) just by reading posts. What an amazingly talented, knowledgeable and helpful group you are!

I have recently returned to dressmaking after a break of over 30 years! I had made curtains and other home things each time I moved house but it was all straight lines. I was taught to sew by my Mum and also learned at school. In my teens I used to make the things I couldn't afford to buy.

I recently retired and after giving up horse riding I needed something to occupy my time. I am also a real pear shape so I struggle to get clothes to fit. Hopefully the ones I make will.

This year I hope to get rid of a few bad habits:

making things I like the look of but do not need and will never wear
buying fabric I like with no idea what I am going to do with it as it is not appropriate for the things I wear
attempting projects that are far too ambitious for my skill level (but the pattern envelopes are very inviting)

I also hope to make a pair of trousers that actually fit me.

I am looking forward to sharing my disasters and, hopefully, the occasional triumph.

Thanks for letting me join.

Oh heck, no hope then! At least the attempts might give everyone a laugh. That's the thing you see, when you don't have that much experience, everything seems possible.

Welcome, @Manchita .   :drink: :flower:

I’m looking forward to seeing your makes, especially as I am a pear-shaped, darksider (patchwork and quilter) taking my first tentative steps into the light.
