How much do you need? I might be able to help  - I use it for weighting down the hems of bata de cola skirts - I'll go see if I've got any left.

ETA: Sorry, my mistake - I've got 1/2 centimetre not 1/2"  But have you considered trying your local friendly DIY merchant? That's where I get a lot of my cord from and it's where I got my last lot of bag piping cord from - polyethylene rope comes in all seizes and colours!

Tightly rolled 'sausages' of scrap knit fabric?  If you pull on the end of strips it rolls obligingly...

Old fashioned washing line or sash cord that they use for windows... both from a hardware shop

That's useful to know as it's more flexible than the polypropylene cord!

As an update - I used the flexible plastic tube and it was a blooming nightmare - very difficult to put in place - I won`t be using that again.

On the other hand - in another post, HollyBerry recommended using headliner scrim as a stabiliser and that was great - very easy to work with and cheap!  I`m now going round the house looking for things to do with it.  I bought some cake forks from Ebay as a birthday present - very pretty forks but tatty box so I am using the scrim plus a bit of silk and some textile glue to reline it.

Headliner scrim seems to be available in different thicknesses.... what did you buy please?
