I sew for a local handmade-goods shop in my town. This summer the store is moving to a new location about 20 miles away, and the owner offered all the vendors an "out" on their contracts if they don't want to make the move. There is only one other seamstress, and she's not making the switch. Yesterday the owner let me know this, and asked if I wanted to take over her product line. YES!! I do! She makes a lot of baby basics- bibs, burp towels, simple blankets, etc. Stuff I can easily whip up. And she ALWAYS gets a check at the end of the month. I mostly make decor and fun stuff- stuff that's cute, but putzy and detailed, and doesn't sell quickly, (and I'm often paying in to meet my minimum consignment fee instead of actually making money.) Keeping my fingers crossed that this pays off for me!
