I've upgraded since 2008, to using one machine needle that was only replaced when I managed to bring it down on something I shouldn't and it broke to a small round pin box that is full of old needles.

What  do you do with them/where do you send them?

I put mine in a plastic vitamin bottle so they can’t hurt anyone and then they go in the bin. Getting rid of any sort of sharps is so difficult.

I have a similar system, but then they go into the metals skip at the recycling centre. Broken needles, bent pins, staples from paperwork, all that sort of thing.

I use old photographic film canisters - the type that used to hold small rolls of film. Then, when full, they go in the recycling. Feel quite virtuous changing needles often. :)

I use any tiny pot I can find - ie Tic Tacs, photo film canisters, empty spice pots etc and put them in the bin.  Our recycling place doesn't have specific metal recycling, annoyingly.   But that's not a problem round here - any metal goods left outside get swiped overnight.

We have an official sharps box for veterinary needles and they go in there. it will probably be another 20 years before it is full.

I use an old salt container, the kind that has salt crystals. It has small round holes and a larger hole. I’ve still not filled it up, but will recycle them .

I use a small prescription med bottle with a small hole drilled in the top so machine needles just drop in. Take off the top for bent pins and pulled staples. Same bottle for two years now - less than half full. (I'm easy on needles.)

When its full, I'll switch the top with the hole onto a new bottle.

There's a benefit of old age - endless supply of med bottles.

Now if they just served any purpose other than used needles.....

I've got a sharps bin and they go in there, I'll never fill it but the council will come and take it away if I ask them to although I'll never admit to them it doesn't contain clinical sharps

I'm afraid I'm naughty and simply throw mine in my workroom bin that goes in the general waste dustbin each fortnight. However, I keep the plastic containers that rotary cutter blades come in to use for dull blades. Again these go in my dustbin.
In my defence, the bins are wheely bins that are just hooked onto the back of the wagon and tipped. I suppose animals at the tip could be harmed though - hmmm hadn't thought about that before!! -<

It's keeping your needles in not just a specific spice pot, but in one from a relatively rare spice.  Very artisan.
