Best pattern to buy for first time making jeans
« on: April 16, 2017, 21:09:04 PM »
I have seen these jeans here https://creaturesofcomfort.us/collections/pants/products/jamie-jeans-denim they are terrifically expensive, I was wondering where the best place to look would be to look for a jeans pattern so that I could make something similar.  I'm not sure that I could pull off quite such a high waist though!! TIA

The jeans in question.  I can't help with a pattern, but those who sew jeans might know of a 'friendly' pattern.

Ginger Jeans are always highly recommended when I see them. Outside of my size range, but I would loved to give them a go if I could.

Sew Over It - Mia Jeans

A blog I follow (Scruffy Badger) has made the Mia Jeans and she loves them.

I've made the Butterick pattern. I had to make quite a few alterations as I needed to higher the waistband, but that depends on where you like to wear your jeans. Also I had to drop the crotch a little to get rid of the "smiles" Having said that I wouldn't expect trousers/jeans to fit straight from the packet. Making a toile is a must to avoid disappointment and stretch denim I find is the best for fit.

The Butterick has different leg styles.

Yes, i think these will need to be a bit of a project, so some research on blogs and then a toile.  Everything takes me ages as I only get small snippets of time to sew atm.
