My Christmas plannig is not quite sewing but does involve thread.  I'm learning tatting in order to make little motifs to go on cards. I started by using a shuttle as I've been shown quite a few years ago.  Found it difficult but persevered.

Then I found a left handed you-tube video and trid that to see if it was easier.  Not really.

I accidentally started a needle tatting video.  That appealed to me - seemed to make more sense so I ordered tatting needles.  They came quickly and it was a revelation!

I've done a few little pretty flowers.  Next to try snowflakes, trees and angels.

The way to learn tatting is to make bars/chains first, not rings, and use two colours.  That way you will see when the knot turns over.  Once you have mastered turning the knot you can then progress to rings, then picots and joining and after that it's just practice.

I can make the chains, rings etc and join them, but I am VERY out of practice and the tension/neatness would be all over the place. :S

Oh dear, tatting, I did that once. When my daughter was a toddler, I taught myself to do it from a Coats' instruction book.  I made a snowflake which took me about a week.  The next time I saw it, she had discovered scissors. AAGH!  I still have the shuttle.

Evening all, its been a fairly busy day today, and I managed to get 5 aprons embroidered.

Although, I am thinking the last one (green embroidery) is a dud.  I didn't realise that the embroidery file was on its side, and so the word is upside down, ...... and ..... well its a bit phallic  :S  :|.  That one might need to quietly find its way to the charity bag, I don't think I can gift it.

Sorry @datcat23 but I am quietly chuckling at that green one  0_0

I don't really do Christmas presents, my children and partners get money, and so does my nephew.  My brother and I don't buy for each other, and in fact I'm lucky if I even get a card from them, I expect my brother sees them as a waste of money.

I do of course have a grandson to buy for this year  0_0

Wrenkins, these aren't mine but they look like this Mouse Scarecrow .  I'm painting the scarecrow which is A219 and the witch was A217.  I have a pile of mice ornaments, not to mention the other Christmas ornaments/decorations,for Christmas too.  Some that my Mom painted.  Some that I painted.  A decent number that I have yet to paint.

I think the link is working again - fingers crossed.

That the link isn't working is weird - I click on it and it goes through.  But who knows - I'll give it another try here.  Mouse Scarecrow

Happy to have got to the end of my aprons; these are gifts for the learning assistants at my work.  I am thinking of one or two more, but those will be special once-off ones, for a couple of girlfriends.
