Binding an armhole seam?
« on: July 12, 2019, 14:36:56 PM »
I'm very pleased with a short sleeved shirt I made. I spent a lot of time getting the fit right and did false french seams. It looks very neat inside except for the armhole seams. I don't have an overlocker so just sewed the seam with a straight stitch and then sewed again nearer the edge - it looks scruffy!
Could I bind the edges in some way or would that make the armhole too bulky (and tight)?

It should be ok as long as you use something really fine like a lining fabric and the seam allowance is cut down.  I’ve made silk garments and bound the armhole seams so it looked neat.
