Pink Ponte dress M7714

I've made a start with this dress, I cut it out on Friday and lengthened the sleeves as I prefer long sleeves in the winter. Yesterday I did the tailor tacks and pinned the bodice parts ready to sew but I haven't the right shade of pink in my box of threads so when I go to town tomorrow for an eye test I'll get it from Franklins.

I don't bother too much to matching thread on seams that don't show, I just find something in my stash that tones in with the fabric and only match on stitching that shows.  If it's good enough for Sandra Betzina it's good enough for me.

I have done a bit over the last couple of days, the front and back are done and ready to be sewn together at the shoulders and the sleeve seams are ready to be sewn. If the weather is too hot I won't do much more this weekend.

Did a bit more today, I've got to top stitch around the neck. I've tacked the side seams ready to try on for fit and then put the sleeves in when I'm happy with it.

I've just tried the dress on with the side seams tacked and it fits OK so I hope to do a bit more later today. It is a simple pattern and style but I like it and will make it again.

Checked for fit again today and sewed the side seams, the sleeves are ready to go in and then just the hem to finish. As it is so plain I'll look for a suitable trim for neck and sleeve edges. No more sewing today, I am a bit achy despite having a lovely gentle swim this morning, not fit enough for the gym although I did some gentle stretches before I went out this morning. Time for a rest and an ice pack on the hip.

Finished the hem yesterday and have now pressed it and put it in the wardrobe until the weather is cool enough to wear it.
