what is this?
« on: August 25, 2019, 10:33:28 AM »
I found this in with an old singer sewing machine. To describe it is is a metal tool  with 0 to 8 on one of it's 'arms' - it has 3 prongs to it  - I wondered if it was to do with gathering or hemming . It is fairly small about 4" long and is sort of a tweezer of some sort.
Any guess what it might be
Many thanks

I do like mystery gadgets, especially ones without photos (though you might not be able to post photos or links until your post count increases).

From your description, I wonder if it is either a tuck marker or a craft guide. If you google (other search engines are available  :P) “singer tuck marker” and “singer craft guide” let us know if it looks like either of those items.

Sounds like a tuck marker... they usually look like tweezers and have a length gauge...

Let us know if that is right...

This might help.  :)

If it is one, there are also instructions on the web for using a tuck marker.  Have fun!

No that really hasn’t... it reminded me about the twin thread embroidery tool that I’d carefully forgotten.... now I have the ‘want mes’ again...    0_0

Thanks for all the replies. It is a singer tuck marker - at least it is part of one - I may have the other bits that fit together but looking at photos on other sites I am pretty certain that is what it is. Nice to have found that out!
Not sure if I shall ever use it but then not sure what to do with most of the old singer accessories Does anyone use any of them?

A lot of Singer accessories are well engineered and work flawlessly, rufflers, hopping feet, buttonholers, more than a few others are very sought after and still work well, and make a lot of jobs much easier, and being metal will last forever with care. Like the old sewing machines! :)
