No, don't be silly, I'm NOT in - but I do have a question/thought.

I don't get the idea of these, surely you'll probably have to wash it (almost) every time you use it?  My coasters are always dirty from drips.  Also it says they can accommodate cake or biscuits too - surely more muck on them, and you can't just wipe them can you?

Please don't think I'm criticising, I am genuinely puzzled by these - or maybe as I get older I want things to be more functional.

I'm not sure about joining in with this - I'd feel terrible if I'd sent someone a coaster/mug rug but got a set of place mats in return.

I'll think about this - I agree with @Bodgeitandscarper about rug mugs being rather impractical; epecially patchwork ones that are inevitably uneven in thickness and thus would cause a mug to wobble.

What is a Mug Rug

The first image in that link is beach huts - and  I know how to do them #2  ;)  but they are summery not autumnal.

I made a mug rug in a workshop at Festival of Quilts a few years ago. It is on my desk and in use daily (well, during office hours) and there is no wobble involved.

It's called a MugRug swap, so if somebody sends me a placemat, it's nice, but I will sew only a MugRug, I swear, because I have no time for a (complex) placemat. :P

@Iminei : I am in  :D

I’ve got some cup mat size mug rugs that we use - no wobble at all! Bigger ones are also great for underneath plant pots etc. They get thrown in the wash once a month and all is good.

I want to join in but Iminei can we make it clear that people should only expect 1 mug rug in swap? It just seems unfair otherwise. I would happily do placemats but not in first few weeks back to school

I'm in....I just hope I am up to scratch!!! Will do my very best... :)

Not having done this sort of thing before, do you know who you will be crafting for, in advance, or do you just make it and get told just before posting date?
If you see me with a seam ripper, now is not a good time
