I’m in but is there a set size for a mug rug?

I’m in too.

We could say one bigger mug rug ( 6” x10”?) or 2 coaster size ones.

I have made sets of these as gifts: usually 4 coasters and one bigger table mat sized one. I wouldn’t put cakes etc directly onto the mats. As coasters they’re fine and last a while before they need washed.

I usually make them 14x20cm =  5,5x8 inch or a little bit smaller because I don't have so much space left on my desk ;)

Just finish the draft :D If there is a special size required, please set the rules, otherwise I will start to sew in the next minutes days  :P

I've had a quick look at coasters on the John Lewis website and they seem to be about 4x4" or a little bigger. Perhaps a mug rug could be twice the size of a coaster - half the space for the mug and half the space for biscuits.

John Lewis also had some round coasters

(By the way, I've decided I'm in on this swap and happy to post internationally.)

I'm in....I just hope I am up to scratch!!! Will do my very best... :)

Not having done this sort of thing before, do you know who you will be crafting for, in advance, or do you just make it and get told just before posting date?

@Lisalou , when we swapped cushion covers, we knew who our cushionee (technical term) was, as we posted our favourite/unfavourite colours.  As we have an Autumnal theme, I guess it isn't necessary to know who we are making for.

And please don't stress about your mug rug.  I'm sure it'll be received with delight.

I’ve decided what I’m doing so it’s the size that it is.

Lovely to see so much enthusiasm for this .... Excellent!

You only have to make ONE Mug Rug ...

If you want to make a set of coasters / mug rugs that is your decision and yours alone ...
You must not expect anything but one mug rug in return ok?

I've been playing as I have not done anything like this before  and have easily made 3 MR's / coasters today ...
They really are quick and easy .. Mine are measuring 6" square ... easy to cut using my 6 1/2" ruler and are turned out, no binding required..

They may be involved in the swap, and then again, they may not! Im practicing!

PS @BrendaP  ... No wobble on the ones Ive made either!

Mr Google says they are usually between 4.5 x 8 inches up to 8x12 inches ( cup and biccy) but really they can be any size you like. I usually use Insulbrite waddling but you don't have to
Just thought I'd put in my twopennoth
