If you're looking at Barnyarns for threads, take a look at "Hugo's Amazing Tape" too - it was mentioned in a recent email from them and may solve your unravelling problem.

I suppose it's the same principle as clingfilm, just thicker.  Sounds useful.
Life's too short for ironing.

I don't know for sure, but I reckon that Hugos tape is clingfim!

My solution to stop unravelling reels is to use thread nets on them.  Linky

There MUST be a cheaper option than that ... I need at least 30!

Madeira 200m rayon are £2.20 at Jaycotts, but if you can get the right colours in 1000m reels from Barnyarns you would save quite a lot - they're only £4.45 a reel.

Barnyarns do give a discount for every 3 reels you buy, but it looks like it's only about 7% at the moment - I'm sure it used to be more than that.  It makes the 1000m reels come out at £4.14, and the 200m ones come out at £2.28.
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

@Iminei     Hobkirks in Blackburn gave me 30 1000m Madeira Rayon 40 in a plastic storage box when I recently bought my Janome 14000, these boxes were on sale for £100, or very near that price at the time but I don't know if you were able to choose the shades that you wanted.
It might be worth giving them a call and appealing to their better nature?

Other than that good old fleabay might be helpful.

@Iminei I use Hugo's Amazing Tape.  I’ve had it for years.  It’s great.  Very thick, just cut off what you need.  Happy to and you some to try if you want.  I use the 2” one and it works well on the Madeira cops.

Thank you everyone for your advise ...

May I ask @Ohsewsimple  for a teeny bit to try?

Otherwise those makeup brush nets seem to be the ticket....

The ones that unravel madly ... because they have no slit to secure them ... are Marathon ...
my preferred threads are Madeira ... but the Marathon are good as well.

Ooo .... Pop out bottom!!!! Ooooh Errr Missus!!!
