I'm likely being dense here but I thought the whole point of fmq was that you can move the fabric in any direction therefore no need to turn the quilt.  (Though I understand that you might want to start different sections of the design from different places)

Yeah I was wondering that about that comment. I guess it's if you did the ArtDeco one with a walking foot you'd need to turn it?

Waves to QS. Well done on getting fmq under your belt I'm just so impressed and really looking forward to seeing the finished quilt although it probably won't be  in real life

You are quite right girls, quilting most designs with a WF would require a lot of turning, which wouldn't be too bad on a QAYG piece or a smaller quilt wall hanging, but if you have the inclination and skill to FMQ ... away you go!

Quilty was obviously hiding her light under a bushel all this time.

I've not done much FMQing but I too found my lines worse when trying to follow drawn ones...think it's the pressure of going off the line LOL
