Beautiful @Vezelay - you clearly don’t need a tutorial! Lovely fabric.

@Lowena - here are a couple of links to patterns I’ve modified. Hopefully I’ll get round to making another fabric basket this week as a baby gift and I’ll try to photo it step by step to use as a tutorial. Hope these links work.

@Lowena this is the one I used.  https://shop.mybluprint.com/sewing/patterns/1-hour-basket-tutorial/236408. I've made it before but if you count measuring, cutting etc it still took me more than 1 hour! But then I'm not a fast sewer.  :(

I've just bought some printed denim for soe jeans but I bought extra to be sure of having enough and I think the extra fabric would be good for a bag or two.

I could be up for a bagathon too

Thank you so much for this thread!  It's given me great ideas for using up some stash, and making a nice basket to put gifts in for DGD's new baby!

I found this free pattern and I love it! Here

@b15erk
Hi Jessie,
I tried to access your link for the bags, but my virus-checker has blocked the site.
Can you give me the actual website address please?

Hi @annieeg this is the link information: https://lillyella.com/2014/12/05/sturdy-fabric-basket-tutorial/

That should give you the info you need.

I made one of those (lillyella baskets) a couple of years ago but wasn't mad about the method or the result and I put it down to the stiff fusible interfacing. I feel the Peltex 71F / Vilene S520 she recommends is too firm so mine has beeen sitting squashed in a sewing drawer since I made it. The pattern is really only suitable for that kind of interfacing, although I wonder would Bosal work instead? Anyway I do like the embroidery thread stitching for the handles - mine are made of Kraft-tex. It's smaller than my other basket pattern but all sizes are good. I might keep it out now and use it :)

If you were put off by the small charge for the basket tutorial I posted earlier, here it is free! https://www.fflib.org/sites/default/files/content/events/files/1hourbaskettutorial_aiid1511874.pdf

Or if you want it in 8 different sizes for £4 https://shop.mybluprint.com/sewing/patterns/friends-of-the-hour-basket/297711?SSAID=1024386&sscid=91k3_j0oj1&sasClickId=91k3_j0oj1&cr_linkid=ShareASale_Banner_ShareASale&cr_maid=46579&cr_source=ShareASale&cr_medium=ShareASale  I might go for that myself.

Thank you @Vezelay !  I was planning to use some foam stuff I have, instead of Peltex - I rarely follow instructions  :|

I have printed off the pattern for the bag you sewed, and will try both - I always need storage.

You're right @b15erk. My problem is I always like to follow instructions and rules to a T (what does that say about me??). I now have a full roll of Peltex that I'll probably never use again  :(. One day I will start a thread listing all the haberdashery items I've bought that remain unused. Some I've even forgotten what I bought them for or what they do at all.

Looking forward to seeing your baskets in due course. Or are you saving them up for the..........................BAGATHON?
