Bother, I wanted to enter an outfit inspired by a newsreader I saw a couple of weeks ago, but I cant' find an image. does that mean I can't enter?
A day without sewing is a day wasted.

@Starryfish, if you can’t find an image, just describe where you saw the outfit and what it looked like.

Nice timing!

Last night my 3yo granddaughter and I were looking at a book of fancy little girl dresses and she chose a favorite. I bought the fabric for it this morning. Now there's just enough time to clear some of my project backlog before I dive in on the start date. The book is "Sewing with Whimsy" by Kari Mecca. the dress on the cover is the one my granddaughter chose. I found a similar but smaller scale version of the main fabric, and my two contrasts are multi-color stripe on white background, and a green with white pin-dots. I need to order some jumbo rick-rack, as I can't find a matching color here. I can only get basic colors, and the tones in the fabric are more muted.

ETA: Does this count as "inspiration" since it's a pattern book? I never intended to use their patterns - I have plenty of TNT little girl patterns - and I bought the book with inspiration in mind, and for the detailed embellishment instructions.

A Balenciaga coat has caught my eye.  I have similar fabrics and there is a pattern that might work.  Someday, but not any time soon.  Sigh.

No problem, take a picture of the dress on the cover, and you’re good to go.

I'm very excited because I'm going to participate with a transitional coat project. I just tried this coat on today and I fell in love ! Better on me than on the pictures because I made sure it hanged correctly

I just bought 3 meters of navy boiled wool online. Should be delivered within a week, enough time to finish the slipcover I'm currently working on and adding a shawl collar to Burda 6987...
UPDATE : after thinking a bit I decided to use another pattern, without the bust darts and with larger armscyes and one piece sleeves. This will be simpler to sew in an unlined coat and moreover, it's closer to the original design. The new pattern will be Burdastyle 2017-10-102

Oh @Manuela what a brilliant thread. I'm very new to the forum but will follow the thread and maybe become brave.

It's a few years since I've drafted my own patterns or cut up clothes to form a template of a much loved garment but I'm up for an adventure.

This is so exciting. Xx <3

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]    [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]  My sister remembers more than I do. She was able to tell me it was a round neck and a straight front edge.  In the absence of photos, I have attempted  a sketch using the drawing package on my computer. It's more difficult than you would think.  You have to close the box after each line, find the icon for the next, draw close  etc. I kept trying to go back a bit and of course it wouldn't let me. When I drew the pocket edge, the curve wiggled after I had moved on, still there is enough to give you an idea of what I want to do. Please don't laugh, it is the first time I've done this.
Sewing will be neater than drawing, maybe. I have been looking for fabric for quite a long time. It will probably be a wearable toile because the best one I found was quite expensive and I want to be sure not to spoil it.  [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]   I see the picture hasn't worked. Try again.

That's a .odg file which can only be opened by OpenOffice Draw or LibreOffice Draw, so many of us won't be able to access it I'm afraid.
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.
