In that case I'd better get a move on with the jeans I'm planning for the printed denim I found at Doughty's.  I bought 2m which surely should be more than enough for jeans with plenty left over for a bag.

First job then to overlock the ends of the fabric and get it washed a couple of times.

I am interested but October is a very busy month for me. I do need some sort of inspiration to keep me going though.

Can it be a simple bag if time gets difficult? I could do with some new drawstring bags for my knitting projects, at least then I will feel part of it.

Sorry @Iminei but could you clarify please? Do we all need to follow Sheilago's tutorial and make the same kind of bag? The same size? Or does any type or size of bag - which would include Celia's drawstring bag - qualify?

Either way I'm interested. Except that my brother will be over here visiting me the last four days of October and we'll be very busy as it's Wexford Opera Festival time so I can't see myself posting anything at all over that period.

I'm going to try and participate in this.
Will @Sheilago post the tutorial or is it already on the Forum?

Sheilagos tut will help you with the process of making a reasonably structured bag (rather than a sack!) but you are free to make any kind of bag you want ... and if anybody could make me a nice new handbag ...

I’m sewing a handbag as we speak so won’t enter that but I did think of making a matching tote.

Off to watch tutorials.

Hi everyone,

The tutorial is off to Imi for proof reading. I am a complete novice at preparing tutorials ( and not really an expert bag maker either  -< ) , so hope those of you who’ve never made bags will find it helpful. There will instructions for 2 methods of making a simple structured bag. I make these as gifts , especially for new babies. People store nappies/ baby toiletries/ burp cloths etc in them. Small ones are good for keeping make up etc in.

Those of you who have made bags no doubt know much more than me!

Once Imi has read it all ( and hopefully finds it makes sense) and I’ve figured out how to get all the photos up in the correct order, the tutorial should be available. Hopefully in the next couple of days.

I’m sure it’s perfectly acceptable to make any kind of bag: it’s just for fun after all!

I'm interested in this one as I want to make a bag suitable for a hospital stay, I will be having a total hip replacement next spring so this is ideal for me  :)

Count me in!  I will have to look through my stash for suitable fabrics  :) maybe shop for more ooh  :) :)
Willing but not always able :)

Yes, I'll have a go. It's a long time since I made a bag, other than crochet ones which I do to use up boring donated yarn from the garden nursery.
