This bag is almost complete. It's made up of 15 pieces (plus 13 pieces of interfacing) and the instructions in black and white are quite challenging to follow, but I'd made this before about 18 months ago for a friend's birthday. so how come I made such a pig's ear of the construction?  I'd nearly finished when I found a piece of lining I'd missed! So I had to unpick topstitching and seams from one zip to add it. Did that then realised I'd sewn the missing lining bit in back to front and had to unpick again  :|. Arghhh! Pay attention woman! . Oh and I'm leaving off the wrist strap because I deliberately cut it short then realised it was too short and the fabric's all gone. Shame cause It's a nice touch.

Oh well - nearly there  :)

Edit: A bit more info: the butterfly fabric I've had a few years and made several different small bags from it - none left now. The corners are Kraft tex - maybe I prefer the faux leather I used last time. The YKK zips came from an Etsy US company - 20 of them in 2 sizes so more pouches to come!

No problem @Acorn , it’s just more fun if everyone reveals their creation around the same time.

@Vezelay I don't usually wash fabric for craft but I have never used African wax fabric so wanted to check it wouldn't shrink  0_0  :vintage:

All pieces cut and ready to sew tomorrow, hopefully :)

If your bag needs to be shrink proof @Lilian then that makes sense  :). I've just seen your lovely bag fabric. I've  made craft projects from some African wax fat quarters previously and they were much admired (all credit to the fabric, not me ;)).

Made a start on my bag this afternoon. This is my vintage fabric -

and this is the basic quilting I've done on it -

It's the first time I've done any sewing in my newly finished sewing room. I've posted pics of that in a new thread in Sewing Spaces and Furniture, if anyone's interested. -<

Looking forward to making more progress on my bag tomorrow.

@Lilian - you're right, it is curtain fabric, probably bought in the early 1990's when we moved in here. I bought extra to make cushions but had some left over. It's nice and thick for a bag though. :loveit:

@Kenora I have a few curtains that I no longer use and have thought how nice they would be as bags and cushion covers. Maybe after this bag I might make more. Looking forward to seeing your make

I love that fabric @Iminei  :vintage:

Me too.
Finished my bag and discovered I had some more butterfly fabric for the wrist strap after all  :) -  there could be others to come, that's the plan, though I've started making a top next so we'll see.

@Vezelay I'm in the middle of a top, but did sew the bag lining and outer, just placing the straps as the go all round so to take the weight of my featherweight and inserting a base pad   :) :vintage:

@Lilian what did you use as your base pad? I need a machine bag and don't want to add any more weight than I have to.
