When you’ve made a mess-up at the cutting out stage, a rescue plan is needed.

So annoying isn’t it?   Good save though even though it wasn’t what you planned.

Thanks @Ohsewsimple but I haven’t saved it yet! I’m in France at the moment until the weekend, and I’m going to wait till I get home to try to finish it on the coverstitch rather than try with a double needle. The neckline is a little on the wide side for my liking for a true v-neck. It could be that the top will only be worn with a scarf!  0_0

Good on you for trying to find a fix. When one thing goes wrong it's often followed by another thing!

Thanks @Catllar I think I loved the fabric so much that I didn’t want to give up on it so easily.

This is the rescued top, not what I wanted to make but it will be worn.

Looks good @Fabric Lover.  Neck looks fine.  After I lost weight I found some of my tops were a bit big and wide at the neck.  The best fix I found was to put a band round the neck which reduced the size a bit.  A double band on knits works well.

Thanks @Ohsewsimple I’ve only done neckbands before as and when directed by patterns and therefore had a pattern piece with notches to give me comfort on the fitting. So it was a bit scary to do my own thing. I measured the neckline and cut a band at 80% of that as recommended on some website (can’t remember which one). But I still had my fingers crossed while doing it!  :S

That's a great fix! Love Notions Patterns use 80 to 85 for neckbands, but I reckon it's only a guideline as stretch and recovery differ enormously don't they?

Yep.  I tend to use less than that but as you say, they all vary.

Yes that’s a good point, what works for fabric isn’t necessarily good for other stretch fabrics. I could have gone a bit tighter actually, still I’m reasonably happy with it.
