suitable thread for machine sewing leather
« on: October 06, 2019, 14:53:41 PM »
I need to do a small repair to a handbag and prefer to machine sew. I have a leather needle and an old sewing machine - but which is the best  thread to use? I have sew all gutermann thread for most projects.
Many thanks Judy

I've never actually tried machine stitching leather, but I think I'd use Gütermann Top stitch or Gütermann Jeans.  Both are thicker than Sew All, therefore stronger.
Brenda.  My machines are: Corona, a 1953 Singer 201K-3, Caroline, a 1940 Singer 201K-3, Thirza, 1949 Singer 221K, Azilia, 1957 Singer 201K-MK2 and Vera, a Husqvarna 350 SewEasy about 20 years old. Also Bernina 1150 overlocker and Elna 444 Coverstitcher.
