Does anyone know the name of a tool for setting the height of a presser foot? Something like a feeler gauge, but 5/16" thick?
I wanted to align the foot with the feed dogs, but was afraid to loosen the screw that held the post in case the whole assembly dropped down.  Since it was stitching well I assume it is at the correct height, so I wanted to prop it up at that level while I tweaked the foot.  Nothing in the house was exactly that height.
(In the end, I managed with the handle of my red cleaning brush on top of the plastic cover of my little notebook and the end sheet inside. Phew! I would rather have the  ideal thing in my toolbox though)
What does everyone else use?
Yarn down:  1000g
Fabric down:  29m

Well you could get a set of feeler gauges?
I have vintage machines, and use a 5pence piece - just a smidgen difference from what I'm setting too  :)
