What colour should the binding be?
« on: March 01, 2017, 21:16:54 PM »
Hi folks

I'm making a quick baby quilt for my partner's nephew's baby boy due in three weeks time and wonder what colour to look for to make the binding.  I have turned the corner so that you can see that the back is royal blue.  I was thinking of a green colour as I don't want it to get dirty too quickly if put on the floor for him to lie on.

I think I would go for green or the same blue as the back.
Life's too short for ironing.

Hi,

Yes I think I'd go with a green binding or maybe yellow. You need it to contrast with the red. Looks great.

Yellow, blue, green and red, equal length strips, begun half way down a side so each quadrant is a different colour.

Blue or green - or a scrappy mix of all the colours used apart from the red.

I agree with Brenda...Blue (like the back) or a scrappy mix of whatever you have left from the top...
with the exception of the RED!!!

It looks weird if the red border meets a red binding in a scrappy mix...ask me how I know?

Or, if you are up for a (small) challenge how about a dual coloured binding ???

We went to buy some more blue fabric for the binding this afternoon but found a multi coloured scrappy style stripe that looked really good so bought that instead.  Hope to get it finished this week so pics to follow hopefully before the baby arrives.
