My Christmas present to me

My Christmas present to me
« on: November 08, 2019, 11:53:59 AM »
I normally buy myself something for Christmas, not to open at Christmas, usually around this time so I have something I want which DH will never think or will get it wrong even if I tell him.

Having spent a lot just lately on other things I was beginning to think that perhaps I shouldn't spend, but then in my sewing research browser folder I saw Millerain.  So with the Lara Sanner Truffle coat in mind I bought some in dark pink.  I was going to wait but since these colours don't last long, that was my excuse.

Only trouble is the project in mind list is piling up. I'll just have to work smarter (as if :S).

It is. Myself and a couple of others (sorry can't remember who) bought some in Feb 2018.
The fabric was easy to sew and made a good waterproof coat. However it does fade rather quickly, I now have a 2 tone jacket, mainly pink but still red underneath were the hood lies. Not sure I would buy this fabric again although I have had a lot of wear out of the jacket.
It's not easy being this perfekt

I assume that is what they mean by 'will age with use'. I would not be happy if I had spent time constructing a garment which then faded.

Not sure I like the sound of that @toileandtrouble, although I have a red jacket in it and no signs of fade at all, yet.  I think if I had bought one, I wouldn't be too happy if the colour faded.  DH has a couple of Barbour waxed jackets and generally they just get a 'well used' look, which a lot of people prefer

I shall have to keep an eye on it.
