I think it's the depth that can be slightly different Imi. Can you remember what machine you had when you first started to sew?

Most non Janome brand that I've bought, bar some with a purple ish tinge to the plastic, fit my machine. Those that don't fit the bobbin holder or don't perform are used as spares for winding thread for needle thread on my overlocker. I do the same with some very old metal Janome ones.

My machine is fussy about which bobbins it likes. Wrong size and it won't work

You really need to be sure which brand.  For instance, traditional Singer plastic ones fit in my Brother, but Brother ones don't fit the Singer because they are the tiniest bit too big width-wise.

Size ?? Bobbin sized ?

@Iminei  There are dozens of different size bobbins, and if you try to use the wrong size in a machine you will have all sorts of problems.  Here is info about a few of them

Here is a table showing the dimensions of the commoner bobbins.

Here is a (partial) list of machines and they bobbins they take.

btw Singer Featherweight bobbins are not 'unique'; according to Helen Howes

theyalso fit Singer 301 and Bernina 840

My brother bobbins are measured in mm not inches.
11.5mm height.

Could you re-do the pics using a metric tape measure?
