I will finish my garment UFOs by the end of the year! Really, I promise.

I have only three garment UFOs.  Two are for cooler weather so no need for them now.  The third has been a UFO since mid 2000s and I'm not sure what to do with it.  Perhaps I'll start another thread on that for ideas.  It's a Sewing Workshop shirt cut out from some vintage fabric.  I still like the fabric but not the pattern. Unfortunately, it's one of those oversized asymmetrical style tops and one side of the shirt front may end up being too short to cut something else out of it. I do have some bit of yardage left though.  Actually, as I was writing this it occurred to me the SA Jules top might work for it.

Outside of that I have several quilt UFOs that I should get done.  But it's unlikely they will be competed at this late date.

Hey I’m late to the party but I do have some UFOs:

Existing UFOs:
Cloth shopping bags x2
Cloth sanitary pads x6
Harem pant pyjama bottoms x2
Blue waterproof bumbag x1
Advent calendar x1
Espadrille summer shoe test x1
Drawstring gift bags x2

Completed UFOs:
0 (sanitary pads currently at the machine)

UFOs still to tackle:
7

I just got a set of rolling drawers for my sewing room and put all my UFOs together in the bigger ones. I would have said I had three things not seven! But it has made clear what I need to do. Some of the things just stalled because I had to unpick, or got distracted by another project, or ran out of elastic thread. I’ve got the pads on the go and the recycling contest to think about, then a dressing gown. After that I should crack on with the advent calendar as it’s a bit more time-dependent. How’s everyone else doing with their lists?

I finished the cloth sanitary pads! I finished too late for the plaids and checks contest and also started too early for th refashioning challenge  They have a soft cotton plaid upper, cut from a shirt that shrank in the wash, some layers of leftover sports mesh and cotton knit for absorbency, and the bottom layer is cut from old waterproof trousers. Buttons cut out of different garments over the last few years. I’m so happy to have finished these; I’ve been running short at the end of every month!  :|

I’m making slow but steady progress with my advent calendar pockets. I messed up a couple at the start by trying to get fancy with mitred corners on the back but I have enough velvet to cut two more so that’s fine. I think it will take most of the month to actually finish them all and attach them to the back.

The body of the calendar is a sandwich of the velvet topper, felt inner, and a backing fabric. And the instructions say something like “use your preferred tacking method”, sew on the pockets, then bind the edges. It’s basically a quilt sandwich! How far apart will it need tacked? The whole thing is 2-3 feet in height. Do I have to venture into the Darkside fora to ask this sort of question?  :o

@SewRuthieSews thanks! Pockets are only pinned on still but I'm definitely on the home stretch...  :)

After that I'm really hoping to tidy up most of my UFOs/WIPs by the end of the year. How's your own list going?

I have no idea how my own list is going as I've not been back to it.
I think we can safely say that little or no progress has been made!

Suppose I had better go and look.....

I finished a UFO today.

They are the Cutting Line Discover Something Novel Pants.  I started them I think in 2018 and became unhappy with how huge they were.  I ended up figuring out how I could wear them with a particular top I have so decided to finish them.  I like the fabric a lot.  They are in the laundry bin but once they have been washed I'll post photos in my member diary.

My harem pyjama bottoms are done, and they are hands down the comfiest pyjamas I've ever had. They have high waistbands (one shirred and the other jersey). The crotch is so low that they can't need adjusting in the night, and they are attached at the ankle so they won't move up like a nightie. The fabric is so light and swishy too. Very pleased.  And dancing in them makes my husband laugh quite a lot (important in a pandemic).   [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]    [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]    [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I'm not sure I'll get any more UFOs done this year. Maybe the drawstring bags but that's it. I'm busy making Xmas dresses for the girls and planning a Mrs Santa outfit for myself

Whoops, forgot to add the inspiration pattern. It uses the bias fold of the fabric square as the inseam. Quite clever.   [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Fabulous!  @cakeymcdoodle , you have a winner in these. Great summer lounge pant also. I've always liked the looks of this sort of garment but never get around to making any. Hadn't thought of pajamas! How cozy all the extra fabric must be. Enjoy those
