Aarrrgghhhh......After my crowing that the tension assembly was looking fine and dandy I do need to replace the take up spring in the tension assembly.  The spare ones I already have don't have the same little turned up bit that snugs into the gear/cog at the back like this one.... sigh....gonna have to order one...sigh....

All back together and sewing a lovely stitch. I had a bit of a battle getting the tension assembly back on and then the task of  loosening up the stitch length stop screw and the lever took quite some time and fiddling. All is done now and I'm smiling my silly head off! The photos are a bit dark but I just have to brag regardless!!! Next job to tackle is the cabinet but I'm going to wait until we have some decent, warm days where I can sit it outside to work on.

And now finally the head and the cabinet are reunited  0_0 The cabinet would benefit from a full strip back and re-varnish but I just don't have the time right now and Mr.Ruby wanted his garage space back.  The next best thing was to give it a good clean up with some very fine steel wool and pale boiled linseed oil. A couple of "go overs" with the scourer and oil removed all the water stains, paint splatters and years of grime and revealed the remains of a lovely pattina.

Beautiful job - and doesn't it make a lovely, neat piece of furniture!  0_0
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

I used a treadle when I was at school, nobody else wanted to they all wanted the electric machines.  For some reason I find it very therapeutic when sewing with them and of course nowadays very green.  Janome still sell the head in the USA, mainly for the Amish community.

If you have done all the repairs in house  then you have made a magnificent job @rubywishes  <3

What a beautiful thing, I wish I had room for a treadle.

Green with envy!  I used one of those in first year at secondary school and I loved it.  Changed to brand-new-build school at the end of the year so no historic machines thereafter!
