5. Sewing starts on February 1st, you can prepare & fit the pattern and cut before that date
6. Sewing finishes on February 29th please post pictures by March 7th
7. Please use the template below when you submit your entry post

I think this is one I can do!   :) :) :)

Jessie, who is very happy to be here!!  :),  but who has far too many sewing machines to be healthy, and a fabric stash which is becoming embarrassing.

A doll's shirt - I can do that. Well if I can get the embroidered lace to cooperate with me. I'm testing it again today as yesterday's stitch out didn't work out. The poor designer is beside herself as I'm the only one having an issue. I'm also testing the shirt pattern for her. So if all works out, I will be entering.

I'm in, for least one shirt. One question @Manuela , what exactly defines a shirt instead of a blouse?

In the template:
"What did you make and how did you play with the stripes"

Does it have to be striped?

@Kwaaked, no, I will correct it. thanks for alerting me.
@Starryfish, I only used the term shirt to make sure menswear is included. I had a quick google and here is the official explanation  ;)

The difference between blouse and shirt is that blouse is an outer garment, usually loose, that is similar to a shirt and reaches from the neck to the waist or below nowadays, in colloquial use, blouse refers almost always to a woman's shirt that buttons down the front while shirt is an article of clothing that is worn on the upper part of the body, and often has sleeves, either long or short, that cover the arms.

Actually Manuela, I think the Google explanation you found is a little confusing. I would say that the difference between a shirt and a blouse is merely that a blouse is more feminine than a shirt, with details such as tie-necks, frills and full sleeves. Does this sound right?

Oooo! May I join in?  I've been threatening to make OH a new shirt and just received the fabric today.  He has a taste for Liberty lawn and I indulge him once a year (maybe twice, at a push), so this would be a good motivator for me to get on with this.

I have absolutely not problem with that definition either  ;)

Would a shirtwaist count as a shirt for this contest? I was planning on making one this month so will enter it if it's eligible  :)

I suggest that a blouse is a (feminine) type of shirt and that a shirt is an upper body garment with a buttoned opening at the front, sleeves which are stitched on, not cut as one piece with the body and a collar, or at least a collar stand.

I would add, made from a woven, rather than a stretch fabric.

Would this count as a shirt even though it has not got separate sleeves? It does have buttons.

@Starryfish, that’s definitely a shirt.

@Sonatine, non-native English speaker here, what’s a shirtwaist?
