Yes, the fabric fast has flopped a little.  :D I bought some silk denim from Les Coupons de Saint Pierre. It's sold in 3 metre lengths.

Wow, I didn't know such a fabric existed! Is it more like a chambray?

I've never seen silk denim either, but silk is a fibre and denim is a type of weave so it's not impossible.

Denim is a twill weave fabric with tightly spun warp threads and loosely spun weft (filler) threads.  The warps are usually indigo blue and the wefts are usually white.

Chambray is a plain weave with the firmly spun coloured warp threads and softly spun undyed weft threads.

Either could be made using silk threads instead of cotton threads.

Yes I was just imagining the drape would make it more similar to the look an feel of chambray.

I try to stay away from that site, but sometimes it just wins out!

It looks pretty much like cotton denim, but feels slightly different. I don't have a specific project for it, but couldn't contain my curiosity. It was 30 euros for 3m plus p&p, so pricier than most cotton denim, but not by much. My reasoning, of course, went 'denim is always handy, and you'd get at least 2, maybe 3 pairs of jeans out of 3m'. This calculation happened at lightening speed.  :D

I have a shirt made out of a small amount of silk chambray that I bought a few years ago.  Very luxurious, and I love the fact that I'm apparently casual, but actually quite posh when I wear it!

I actually think I have some silk chambray. Well possibly silk/cotton blend. It came out of Mum's 80s stash. I think there is about 4m! Sadly one side is water stained but I think it's only a few inches into the selvedge so probably still useable.
