Done! Now, I am pretty sure I know what i will be doing -  I love making mug rats! Now all I need to do, is to find some nice springful fabric...

At what size does a mug rug become a placemat?

I have mugs of all sizes, so I reckon a mug rug can be any size.

Well a placemat needs to be able to accommodate a plate and cutlery ...
so I would say significantly larger than a MR ...

Spent the afternoon making  2 spring mug rugs ( mine are 6” square). I unexpectedly had no Gran duties today as my son-in-law had a weather related day off. Seemed a bit strange thinking of Spring as sleet lashed the sewing room window, but hopefully it’s not too far off.

No pictures of course!
